And to add to Chris's explanation, if it's a tread and you want to delete particular emails in the thread but not the entire thread, you have to flick down to "Expand Thread", then you can flick through the emails in the thread and use the delete option of the rotor to delete them. Also, if you open any email there still is the usual delete button just above the home key, just remember that if the email is part of a thread using that button in any email that is part of the thread will delete the entire thread. I think this is actually something that if it's intended should be changed by Apple, it makes more sense that I can delete a particular single email which is part of a thread with the delete button that is at the botrtom of said email. I'm just not sure if it's a bug or intended to work the way it does now.
