Hello. To answer your question about notification? Yes, the ap notifys you when a ride is on the way, and if you keep the app opened... you can see ETA. Like how many minutes etc. I don't text the drivers, as texting while driving is illegal I believe. But I have had a driver call me once to tell me he was here. I love uber and the ap. Good luck.
