I see the Table of Contents and the individual books, but I don’t see how to get into them. When I double tap it then says books expanded navigation, but I can’t see what I’m supposed to do.

After that, there should be a option called go to. If you click on that, there should be a table of contents item. These directions may not be totally accurate—I'm writing off the top of my head here—and appologize if you get stuck.
