Hi Christina!

I'll tell you my experience and maybe it won't be what you're looking for but perhaps you can pull something useful from it.

I use VDR on daily basis since version 2.x or something, it was back in 2012. or 2013. when I purchased it. I also have multiple devices, iphone and iPod Touch and basically I could use the iCloud Sync option but I don't. Why?

The first reason is because large audio books are also synced. I don't read them often but when I do from time to time I'd need to wait till 300, 400 or more megs are downloadet to the other device.

The second reason is I don't keep my library on the device. I don't see a reason to keep the books I have read there to clutter the space and there's tones of books I didn't read. I keep my library on the Google Drive, it has by default 15 gigs of storage and that's more than enough to keep my text books library. I can access my Google Drive from every device I have including both iOS devices and my PC. Downloading books from there is just a few taps and some search. I never keep more than 50 books in the device.

The third reason for not using iCloud Sync is I usually do things on the single device which is my iPhone. I have it with me everywhere I go and when I get back home I just continue to read from it. I find some advantages in doing things that way. If I'd read the book on iPod Touch and someone would call me I'd have to pause the iPod first than get my phone and answer. If this happens when I'm reading on the iPhone itself, the book automatically pauses and I just answer the call. There are more situations like that one but it would take some time to write it all down xD.

The only thing I actually like about iCloud Sync is syncing of bookmarks and reading positions but I don't actually need those because I use only one device. The other thing I like is Autoload feature but unfortunatelly I can't use it because iCloud app for PC is kinda not accessible so I can't fill some books in the folder and find them ready to roll in Voice Dream on my iPhone.

So, the conclusion is it is good for some but we can survive without it as we did until version 4.x

S poštovanjem

Hi,

I never did turn on iCloud sync with Voice Dream Reader. Now that some time has passed, I was wondering if you are loving it and if the wrinkles have been ironed out. I’d also like to know what things I might need to be aware of if I turn on the iCloud sync for Voice Dream Reader. I would backup my library before I try it. However, I’d like to know what you all think before I decide to try it.

Thanks so much,
Christina
