Hi, Can you let us know the steps you are using to get there?
I go to Settings, General, VoiceOver, speech. I then tap on the language, the default voice is shown, I tap on it. This opens a dialog showing the available voices. There is a Play Sample button next to each available voice. Clicking this button plays the sample. If this doesn't work, I don't know what else to suggest.
