Hi Alan, Maybe try pressing the home button first and then ad the volume button and see if that makes a difference. Maybe you pressed the volume button a bit before the home button and that is why the volume got turned down. Just a guess on my part, I am going to stick with my 6S Plus until the 10th anniversary iPhone is released next year so I can’t try it out.

It rebooted with no detrimental impact on volume. How very peculiar. Robin From: Alan Lemly Sent: Saturday, November 5, 2016 9:31 PM To: VIPhone Email List Subject: How to reboot and iPhone 7 without turning the volume down With the elimination of a real home button on the iPhone 7, my understanding is that to reboot the iPhone, one holds down the power and volume down buttons simultaneously. I just tried this on my new iPhone 7 while it was powered on but locked and it did reboot the phone but for several minutes, I thought I had lost Voiceover when in fact what had happened is that I turned my volume all the way down while rebooting. If someone knows of a procedure in order to avoid doing this I'd love to hear it. Otherwise, this seems to be a bad design flaw for those of us who depend on audio in order to use our phones and who reboot their devices every so often as I do. Thanks in advance for your comments.
