Yes, it often does just the opposite of what you want it to do, if you hold the
phone to your ear it switches to spekerphone and if you have it on speakerphone
it switches to earpiece. Jim, if you haven’t done so already sent an email to
Apple Accessibility and hopefully they’ll be able to reproduce it so they can
pass it on the the development team.

Take care,
Sieghard

Hi, Just wanted to mention if you make the call and have it on speaker and when
the person answers it changes to the earpiece. So again you have to lift the
phone to your ear then remove it to go back to speaker…

Hi Rajmund,

I am aware of the ability to turn this off in iOS 10, but the point is that I
like the feature and I just want them to fix it so it works as it should.
Turning it off is OK as far as it goes, but if I’m somewhere with a bit of
noise and I do want the call on speakerphone it is difficult to unlock the
phone, hide the keypad and then find and manually engage the speakerphone
button. You can hear Voiceover just fine when it comes through the earpiece
from 8 or 10 inches away when it’s quiet, but not so well when it is noisy.

Regards,
Sieghard

Yes, just sent another message to

it’s been mentioned on the list before and I can only hope that everybody takes

one definitely seems to be a freely available bug on all devices.

I wanted to mention too after I put the phone to my ear if you do it quick
enough you hear incoming call, kind of strange since it is an out going call.

Hi List,

I am wondering if others experience this annoying issue where when you dial a
call and it starts ringing in the earpiece you then place your phone against
your ear and as soon as the other party answers the call decides to switch to
speakerphone. You have to take the phone away from the ear, wait a second or
two and then put it back up to your face before it usually switches back to the
earpiece. Of course if you are in a public place this can be annoying since
usually the other party can't hear you right away and keeps asking what's going
on.
In my opinion this is not a hardware issue since this happened on my 6S Plus
which was just replaced under warranty and the new phone has the exact same
issue. This replacement phone was also set up as a new phone and was not
restored from a backup.
I seem to remember that this started happening when I started to use Ios 10 and
so far it continues to happen almost 100% of the time, from time to time I make
a call and it does not happen. At the same time if I start a call and then put
the phone to my face and take it away or put my hand over the top of the phone
and then take it away to trigger the audio to go to speakerphone, the call
usually reverts to the earpiece when somebody answers so the issues seems to go
both ways.

Best regards,
Sieghard
