I never experienced this issue, but I do recall a few days ago, the Downcast dev posting on Twitter something about an update coming for a similar sounding problem. Since again, it didnt’ affect me, I didnt’ make note of it. Seems like this is what will be addressed.

Hi Amy, The problem gets stranger. When at home I can connect and search with no problem. When at my friends house we both get errors saying unable to search. His wiFi works normally for everything else. Even when disabling wiFi at his place still get the error with 4 bars of cell data. Thanks for your help.
