Hi Arnold, Maybe check in Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services. This is at the end of location services and I would turn off most of what is in there except of course Find my iPhone and so on. But there are things like traffic, frequent places, cell network search, Wi-fi Network search, automatic time zone and all of that which you can turn off, maybe that makes a difference as far as the message in the status bar that your Wi-Fi connection is active. Also make sure you go to Settings > Cellular and again almost at the bottom above Reset make sure WiFi Assist is turned off. This is more to protect yourself from using excessive cellular data since this setting means that if it is on your cellular data/connection is used to make up for situations when your WiFi signal is poor. I just realized when I checked it that it is on on my phone, I received a warranty replacement a couple of weeks ago and this setting is on by default and I hadn't turned it off yet. However, looking at the amount of data used, 3.8 Mb, it is very minor as this was over a two-week period. Lastly, make sure you don't, for some reason, have Personal Hotspot on.
