To all that tried to help me with this problem, thank you very much. I found and corrected the problem! On my wife's phone, she had my phone number in her own contact info for some reason, and since alphabetically her name comes before mine in her contact list, her phone was recognizing my number associated with her name. Once she removed my number from her info,the only place for the phone to find that number was with my name. Problem solved! Based on these results, I would say that the phone identifies the incoming number, then performs an alphabetical search of the contacts list and places the associated name with the number.
