Remember, you have been given the means to take suit against him for public defamation. Whether you can afford litigation over there is another matter, but you have public records and witnesses of said defamation, if any are prepaired to sign such a thing. It's largely up to you now.
The key phrase to concentrate on, is accusing you of theft of some artifact, not stated in the first offending post, but the more damning second one. Damages and costs against him would be a great deal more than anything he claims he is owed. These things should never be taken to public forums, short of court itself for the purposes of fair trial. That, of course, is a different issue, usually going to the one who can afford the best atterny/advocate, and the mood of the judge at the time. Justice is more a lottery than it ought to be, so best avoided where possible. Pity you hadn't got something like citizens advice bureaus over there.
