Hi Ed, I also get no result with a double tap and hold. Here is how I do it:
Open the conversation Swipe to the message you want to forward, if you want to forward multiple messages in a conversation go to the first one Now flick up or down with one finger until you get to the "More" action rotor item, double tap on it This will select the message you are on, Voiceover will announce it as "selected" and at the bottom of the screen you now have the option to forward or delete it. If you want to include other messages in the conversation just swipe right to the next message and double tap on it, that will select it as well. Repeat with as many messages you want, once they are all selected tap on the Forward button. Keep in mind you can only forward text messages via a text or iMessage, you can't email them.
