I have used the KNFB Reader since it was on the little Nokia (Spelling might
be incorrect. Haven't seen it written out in a long time). I have been known
to use mine for computer screens for sure, and it has gotten me out of many
situations with my computer.

I have also used it to read bills or printed notes when I don't want to sit
down to my reader which is the Read EZ. Over the years, I have used the
Kurzweil 1,000 though the READ EZ is a stand-alone unit. It, too, has been a
terrific piece of equipment for us here.

The thing to remember with any of this OCR software and equipment is that it
is not nor will it ever be 20/20, but I am happy to take what it can do for
me. I have used the KNFB for reading directions on food packages and the
nutritional content. It does a fairly good job of it, and then, I can save
the information for recall later.

My Read EZ will often read things where the printing difficult or contrast
and color makes it difficult. I started out with the Kurzweil personal
reader in the early 90's, then graduating to the 1,000 on the computer, but
I absolutely love having it on my phone to use when I am out. It's a cost to
be considered, but I don't regret one penny of the money I have spent on my
adaptive equipment over the years. I hope you will see your way clear to
treating yourself to this Christmas present to yourself. It won't do
everything, but it is certainly a good feeling when you can make good use of
it. As far as I am concerned, Dr. Kurzweil is where this part of our
technology got started, and while I use another product as well for reading
which I consider of equal benefit, I consider the Kurzweil products
definitely trustworthy for the money spent. They have tried to keep the
costs somewhat reasonable over the years.

Hope this helps a little. The Read EZ is also a very competent product as
well as a stand-alone unit which I also like.

Good luck on whatever you decide.
