Hi, , How are you? First of all, you should ask her which mac she has. And maybe the reason, it can't be not updated is because it maybe an old Mac, which finally update was Yosemite. But yu can stil get a mac if you want, in order to learn the commands and check if you like itand so on. I fyou use a bluetooth keyboard on your iPhone, the same commands can be perform on the mac in regards of emails. Now the Recents Mac operating systems are El Capitan and Sierra.
