Jen,

Just so I'm clear, your iPad is reporting that it contains 131 apps but when
iTunes is running with Apps as the selected media, it is only reporting 73
apps? If that is the case, connect the iPad to the computer running iTunes,
place focus on the iPad device, and open the iTunes File menu, select
Devices, Transfer purchases from iPad. It sounds as if you've downloaded
apps directly to your iPad and those weren't set to automatically download
to iTunes at some point in the past. I don't know if this transfer operation
will get the number of apps consistent between your iPad and iTunes but it's
all I know to do.

I'd strongly suggest you reply to all if you have more questions because
having the viphone crowd consider your questions is much more reliable than
just depending on me.

I hope this helps.

Hi,

Ok so I went to the downloads section in iTunes and made sure that music
apps etc are checked so that any new apps etc will be added when the device
is next synced.

Then I connected my iPad the device that has everything needed.

It said it synced and made the little noise to let you know it was finished.

I went in to the iPad and went to the list of apps. It says there are 131
apps on the iPad but in the list only shows 73.

I don't know where to go from here to put everything else back so I can move
on to the next device and get this process completed.

Sorry for all the trouble. Just getting a little frustrated.

Jen,

I'll give an overview of how I understand iTunes works with respect to
syncing and the transferring of content among devices.

The first thing I'd recommend is that you open iTunes, press ctrl + the
comma key to open your iTunes settings. That should open on the General tab
and you should arrow to the Downloads tab until it has focus and make sure
that automatic downloads is ticked for items such as music, apps, movies,
books, etc. that you download to your individual devices so they will be
automatically transferred to iTunes when connected and synced.

If you made an encrypted iTunes backup of your iPad and restored that backup
using iTunes to your iPhone and iPod, I would have thought that the devices
would be at the same starting state as to apps and other media content.

Next, connect each of your devices to your computer with iTunes running,
make sure that the device has focus in iTunes which should be indicated
because the Summary item of that device will be selected and arrow down
through the media types such as music, podcasts, etc. and make sure your
sync selections are consistent among all devices. For example, if you only
sync selected playlists, make sure those are consistently marked among all
devices. I suspect you sync your entire music library and if so, make sure
that is marked consistently with each device connected to iTunes.

If you follow the above steps, I would think your content among all devices
should be consistent.

Hi,

Sorry for any confusion I may have caused.

I guess the part I find hard to understand is when I connect my iPad mini
the device with basically everything I want, not everything shows up.

When I connected my new phone and went through the list of apps it said were
on the phone the same thing happened not everything showed up and some of
the apps had install now and when I hit space it then showed will install.

If the phone synced, wouldn't everything showed up and wouldn't everything
be installed.

Jen,

I got a bit confused by your original post because the version I got seemed
to be missing a word or two.

Richard addressed your first question about restoring from a backup of the
device containing your most complete content to the other devices. I'm not
sure if that is your iPod or your iPad but you'll know what to start with.

Are you planning on running the same set of apps consistently on all three
devices? If yes, and when you delete an app you don't want it on any of your
devices, I think going to iTunes with no devices connected, pressing ctrl +
7 to navigate to your apps in iTunes, tabbing until the library tab has
focus, tabbing until you hear the name of the first app in your library
spoken, and using your arrow keys to navigate among your apps until the one
you wish to delete has focus, and finally pressing the F10 function key to
open a context menu an selecting delete is the way to go. This should remove
the app from your iTunes library so that when you sync apps between iTunes
and any of your devices, they should be removed. If you think you'll often
have different apps running on different devices, I'd recommend you delete
unwanted apps from the device itself instead of using iTunes.

I hope this helps but post back if you have more questions.

I think the anser to the first part is to restore the other devices from a
backup of the one you have that has everything on it you want on the rest.

With the new itunes, I don't know the answer to the second part.

Subject: Syncing question

Hi,

So I got an iPhone se yesterday but also have an iPad mini and an iPod
touch.

I want everything that is from my iPod to my on my new phone and iPod. I
mean all the music and apps.

I don't use the cloud but backup to iTunes.

What is the easiest way to accomplish this.

Also in iTunes on the computer, what is the easiest way to delete apps you
no longer need or don't want on a specific device.

Thanks for any help.
