Hi Tom How are you? I'm not low vision, but I'm totally blind,and I only use Voiceover not soom. However, I herd that in order to mute speech of Voiceover you need to do three fingers triple tap instead of doing three fingers double tap. Question, did you try to do the Voiceover practice that is on settings when Voiceover and soom are running at the same time? You can practice gestures that way.
