Though I don't use automatic updates either, note that if you turn it on in iTunes and App Store settings, it will effect all apps--free or paid. Since accessibility can be affected by app udpates, as Richard described with DropBox, and since I like to know what is updated and decide from there, I have not enabled this setting.
