Yes, it is a very sad thing as this was one of my favorite apps. I had corresponded with the developer quite a bit, which is partly why they came out with the separate "full" version so you didn't have to update from within the app to get the full version. But, her partner had very serious health issues and she couldn't put the extra time into maintaining the app.
Maybe one day someone will rewrite it for the latest iOS and all that it offers.
