I found your answer. DT and hold the 0 to get the plus + sign. I think
it is better to have typing set to standard.

When ever you are in any kind of document on your phone, you go to more
symbols, when you go to more numbers, your go to more symbols, it'll be
towards the bottom of the screen, I can't remember exactly where, but when
you click on more symbols, by double tapping, depending on your typing
method, you will find plus towards the top of the screen give it a try,
and if you have any trouble, I would glad to help you further.
