Yes, turning off vibration there does put the beep back, but it also disables all vibrations. So, if you mute your phone, even though you may have “vibrate on silent” on, it won’t vibrate. That obviously is up to each person which they prefer.

I have read since yesterday that SIRI does not beep in newer versions when home is pressed; but that it can be made to do so in settings/general/accessibility/vibration- then turn vibration off. This is supposed to put the beep back in SIRI when the home button is pressed.
