Hi Reg, I would go to an Apple Store as I think there was some sort of hardware issue which even though your iPhone 6 is out of warranty may still be covered, I think it was a battery replacement for a certain series of phones. I did have a bit of an issue with my 6S Plus last fall shutting down suddenly when I was outside and used it in the cold even though it was not very cold, maybe only just above or around freezing. I went to an Apple Store, they did a diagnostic and didn’t find anything, then it did it a few more times and I was still in Calgary so went back to the Apple Store. I talked to a different genious explained it again and he immediately replaced my phone. I have not had this happen a single time after that even in the winter when it was really cold.
