Hello Vickie, iMessage effects are little animations that can be added to an iMessage to another iPhone, iPad, or Mac. This does stuff like adding fireworks, confetti, etc. You would perform it on an iPhone 6s or newer with the 3D touch feature on the send button in Messages. On the iPad I believe that you would have to double tap and hold on the iPad, assuming you are using VoiceOver. If not you will just simply tap and hold on the send button.
