I wonder if the old 4S can support an update. I have nothing to lose with trying to update the old phone since I stripped some of the more consuming apps off it and did not transfer any photos or videos. I assume the notes will copy over to the new phone when it arrives today. I do all my backups using I Tunes and never used I Cloud to back up. Hi Deidre, It sounds like the notes you currently have are associated with your Gmail account. If you set up Gmail on your 4s, the notes should copy across. Be sure the 4s is running the latest possible operating system, as this should make syncing easier.
