I also use the First or today screen on my phone. I have a couple of weather apps, my next appointment from Fantastical II, and the first 4 favorites from my Phone there. I find it very easy and convenient to swipe to the today screen, go to the bottom, and swipe left to get to a favorite that I want to call; verses pulling up the Phone app and then going to favorites. Yes, I know, I could also tell Siri to call someone for me, and sometimes I do that, but I prefer to either do it from the today screen or go into the Phone app to call. It's just how I use my phone. During the NFL season, I have the widget from my sports scores app displayed so I can see all the latest scores and what games are up coming.
