Hi List,

I need some quick guidance before I embark on a project to make a constantly
edited Word docx file accessible and navigable.

I'm on my Homeowners Association board and we are in process of editing our
covenants and bylaws into a single electronic document. In order for me to
be most effective and contribute at our discussion meetings, I need to make
the Word docx file we're using as navigable as possible so I can follow
along on my iPhone and read the sections being discussed. As the document is
pretty much a legal document without any images, I'm thinking the main thing
I can do is to place headings at appropriate places to distinguish document
articles which are the main sections from lower level sections in order to
maintain hierarchy. So, I'm planning to get the most recent version of the
working docx file and insert Heading1, Heading2, Heading3, etc. styles as
appropriate. Before doing this, I wanted to ask this list if what I'm
proposing is the best way to make the document navigable. Also, will I need
to save the Word docx file containing the headings in any special format in
order to be able to swipe to those headings quickly on my iPhone when
participating in a meeting? I believe I've had mixed results in the past
when trying to open Word docs containing headings in the Word app and I seem
to recall that saving in filtered html worked better for purposes of
accessing it on the iPhone. This access primarily consists of opening the
document in Dropbox where it is housed and navigating to the rotor headings
item and then single finger swiping to access those various headings.

I apologize for the technical nature of my question but I really don't want
to spend a lot of time doing this if I don't get the results I'm seeking.
And since the document is going to be shared and edited by at least one
other user, I want to make sure I follow steps that can be carried forward.

Thanks for any suggestions and feel free to write me privately at
[email protected] if you think the list would not be interested in your
responses.
