When I attach my iPhone 7 to my Windows 7 computer with its lightning cable, an AutoPlay dialog box pops up with options to: 1. Import pictures and videos using Windows 2. Import pictures and videos using Dropbox 3. Other options not relevant to your question. I've had success in the past using option 1 to transfer photos from my iPhone to my computer and it's the route I'd recommend for your daughter.
