I'll tell you one thing about keeping one's county budget good for Public/Para
Transit; you've got to get others motivated to attend your county's budget
meetings; and with the whole disabled community: SCREAM to improve, or at the
very least, maintain the current budget.

Right about now my county, Lee County Florida, they're getting ready for the
2017-2018 budget public hearings. But as I keep in touch with our county
commissioners and both the director of LeeTran and the director of Passport;,
Para Transit, they've told me that their respective budgets will not be cut
down. That's acceptable enough for me.

The whole point being, if you, or a group of people, feel the need to get more
in transportation, then it's up to you to show up at your county's County
Commissioner meetings and sign up to speak under Citizen's Input time; and
voice your request from the heart. Plus, you'll probably have to attend these
meetings time after time, being quite the pain in the arse.
Sure, you might be motivated enough to do this yourself, but when it comes to
getting other blind folks to show up and back you, it embarrassingly is clear,
they say they will, but they indeed don't! All talk and no walk! You've got to
have the numbers, because you don't have the cash; don't carry any water with
your local politicians.

So yes, this does require public speaking. But if you're not heard, then public
transportation and Para Transit are easy targets to cut in the budget.

Sorry to say it, but the blind/disabled voter block is a voter block without
deep pockets.

These are my last few words......Later!

Subject: Re: some uber and lift questions

Hey guys, this is all extremely helpful. So i'll tell you all about why i am
using lift and uber more. I was basicly forced into it. My ADA ride service
decided to pull a fast 1. When i moved into my house
4 years ago, they told me that i was in a good location for the ride.
Conveeniently 3 months later, they changed the bus routes, so it made my home
no longer able to get ADA service. I basicly threw at them, so how am i
supposed to get to work? They decided to honor it. So now they hit me
yesterday where if i wanna go any place other than work i have to meet the ride
at a certainly location. So now it's a case of now i have to get a ride to get
ride. Makes a lot of sense, right? Anyone else delt with anything similar,
and what course of action do we have? Jeez, it's hard enough getting around
for any of us.

Cheers,
Jed
