Yes you can certainly do this.
Touch the status bar,
Flick up with 3 fingers to invoke control centre,
Now use explore by touch or just keep flicking until VO says " Do not
disturb button ".
Double tap.
Just repeat above steps to resume getting sounds and alerts once the
Skype call has concluded.
