Hi! Dana: I am also experiencing this. I have an iPhone 6, 64 gig, and I have not even downloaded iOS 11 yet. I am wondering if it's something to do with Messenger it's self. Hopefully someone will be able to let us know. As I've said before, I will say it again now. I am being kicked out of Facebook messenger, and I have not yet downloaded iOS 11. So it is not an iOS issue for me. Is it how many others are having this problem rather or have been, before iOS 11 download.
