I sure hope they fix this soon, by the time I touched and double tapped on that Edit button I have already deleted the message I want to delete with the rotor.

When you do this, it causes the phone to present a "null" in the app, which can only be gotten rid of by closing messages out of the app switcher and re-opening it. If "null" is displayed, new messages that come in will not display properly, or at all. So, as a workaround, if you ever need to delete a message, use the edit option in the top right corner, select the message or threads you want to delete, and then press the delete button in the bottom right corner. This bug has been reported to Apple and will hopefully be fixed in the next release. I am not sure what happened on your phone, but for me the Messages app is as always except for that bug with the deleting. I just tap on Edit in the top right, then double tap the messag or messages I want to delete to select them and tap on Delete at the bottom. I’m sure they’ll fix this bug soon and this is not too difficult a work-around. If you have some major issue with Messages you may have to restore the phone which means reinstalling iOS 11. Just out of curiocity, what preparations did you do before updating?
