Hi Marie, You still need a 3.5mm Line-In port on at least one of your Sonos players, at least I am pretty sure that nothing has changed regarding adding Airplay capability to Sonos. The Airport Express has a 3.5mm output and you have to connect the Airport Express to your Sonos with an ethernet cable as well as connect the 3.5mm output on the Airport Express to an input on a Sonos speaker. My first generation Play 5 which when it came out in 2011 was called the S5 has both a 3.5mm line in port as well as a 3.5mm line/headphone out and I also have a few Connect and Connect Amp players all of which have a RCA line input.

Does the express connect wirelessly to my home network and then how does it connect to the speakers? I am still a novice at this but I have the Play 5 and two of the play 1 speakers grouped and I love them. I will get more speakers soon so I can have the entire house wired for sound. But there is no line in port on the speakers so I think the express would be the least expensive way to go for connecting. By the way I am a PC user not Mac if that makes a difference.
