Hi Mark,

I guess it won't hurt, but first of all, if you put your iPhone into DFU mode 
it makes no difference whether Find my iPhone is on or not. I mam not sure why 
they say you have to put your iPhone in DFU mode for this to begin with, if you 
turn off Find my iPhone you should be able to simply activate the Restore 
button in iTunes while holding down the shift key, browse to the IPSW file you 
downloaded and it will restore (it always has in the past anyways).
Also, they did not mention that you have to be darn sure you download the 
correct file for your exact phone model. In some cases this means knowing if 
you have the "Global" or "GSM" version of a particular model.
