So the news is out that we all pretty much knew was coming. T-mobile and Sprint will merge on paper some times in October with the deal being stock and T-mobile being the majority share holders in the deal. My hope is that T-mobile management will remain at the top and that T-mobile wont become more like Verizon and At&t. We've all seen many changes in the wireless industry over the past few years since John Legere has been at the helm. he's dictated how and what the rest of the carriers do and how they treat their customers. Don't think for one minute that Verizon or At&t was smiling when they launched their unlimited data plans and lower prices. They did it because T-mobile gave them no choice if they wanted to remain competitive. But with Sprint being eliminated at the bottom, they wont be there to tug and have the lowest prices forcing T-mobile to price their services lower than Verizon and At&t. What do you all think the future holds with the new merger? I know the big thing is the spectrum that Sprint has and how T-mobile can utilize that to continue to build out their network and increase coverage. I know that Sprint still uses CDMA for their 2G network, but is their 4G networks compatible with what T-mobile currently uses or will every Sprint customer have to eventually get a new phone? I know this would roll out over time like it did with Cricket and Metro PCS and that in 4 years or so most people would have got a new phone anyway.
