Thanks for the suggestion Donna, but on this occasion, I was ahead of you and
had tried the switch
off in app store option and a restart, but still no sound, except for that
miserable click that is
there, though I thought that it, too, had gone.

Im sure you most likely have cleared 7 little words from the app switcher &
reopened the app to see
if the sounds return. This is the only suggestion I can think that might solve
the problem given you
have checked to see if sounds are on within the game app.
