Ear Pods are what Apple calls their new ear buds. I got my wife's 5 today and snagged the Ear Pods. They are a chunky, kind of wedge that goes into the ear, but not into the ear canal. They are quite comfortable. However, they are made of a slick plastic and the right one especially keeps sliding out of my ear, which then pulls the left out, too.
I am wondering about some kind of "stick'em" I might try to give them some viscosity. Maybe I could let my ears build up some wax for a few days? These may not sound tons better than the old buds, but I think they are a definite improvement. The cord is the same, but the in-line control is larger. I can't wait till my wife starts her phone so I can judge performance. It is just a half inch or so taller and one-quarter inch thinner. It also is slightly lighter, but the same width. I don't think anyone will have any problem adjusting to the added height. It has a half inch or so of glass at the top and bottom edges on the back with the rest aluminum. I do think this will make it feel more secure in the hand and not like it might slip through your fingers. I think the audio jack on the bottom with the speaker is an improvement because I drop the phone into my pocket with the speaker aimed upward to better hear alerts. Just a quick impression of form...
