I don't know how home content insurance works in the uK, but I have my iPhone insured this way here in Canada and it's completely covered if it is stolen, lost or damaged no mater whether I'm sitting on my sofa and drop it or if I'm travelling around Thailand and it's stolen. When I lost my almost brandnew iPhone 6S 2 years ago my insurance sent me a cheque for the full retail price, $1,029 CAD at the time even though I had bought the phone on contract, but of course in order to replace it I had to buy a new one at full price.

I am however, running in to a minor issue, which hopefully someone out here can help with. the only such provider I am aware of, is "protect your bubble", and they won't insure anything refurbished/used not purchased directly from a manufacturer or network provider, and I got my watch from ebay, something I didn't exactly have much of a choice over, as the series 2 ones have now disappeared from the apple store app. so I am hoping someone out there may know of another UK provider that hopefully doesn't have that particular, rather annoying, exclusion.
