Most of  the news alerts have a sound to draw your attention. In earlier 
versions, the alert would read without you having to touch the phone. Under 
the current version I have to either swipe the screen to read the message, 
or lock and unlock the screen to get it to speak. when it speaks it speaks 
everything. I am assuming that this is just a flaw in the locked screen. 
There are some other functions that do not work correctly in locked screen 
mode. 

I also notice that when I am in an application that notifications disappear 
before I can check them. Perhaps this is part of the same problem. 

I am  awaiting resolution of this problem. If none is forthcomming, maybe 
they can show us how to go back to IOS 10.
