Hi,
I have the same settings as you do however under Outlook 2016 it is not
working as advertised; and like I said Microsoft has been able to duplicate
the difficulty as was reported. Again I know this is perhaps beyond the
scope of this list I only mentioned it in case it had any similarities to
the original poster's difficulties.

Hello Robin,
I use MS Outlook 2007 on a Windows PC.
This means, that I must manually move deleted messages into the Trash folder
located under the All gMail area. However, once I do this, should I then
choose to delete all of the contents from that Trash folder, either in
Outlook or from my Mac's mail client, those messages are permanently deleted
from the gMail server and are no longer part of my account.
Were I to use a newer version of Outlook, simply pressing the Delete button
on my keyboard would automatically move the message(s) into the correct
Trash folder.
Regardless, I have my gMail account setup to automatically delete any
messages in the Trash folder that have been there for longer than 30 days.
In iOS, I have the native mail client setup to automatically move deleted
messages into the correct gMail folder, with the same results.

Hi,
If I'm understanding your issue correctly it might be related to another
similar known issue with Microsoft outlook. I do know that when using
Outlook to access a GMail account via IMAP when messages are deleted from in
box or any other folder while they will move to trash they are also being
copied to the "all mail" folder meaning that GMail is interpreting the
command not just as a proper delete but is also archiving them. When I was
testing this particular issue which I've outlined other clients such as the
native mail app on the iPhone does in fact delete them. The failure solely
lies with Outlook in my experience. Other clients such as Thunderbird and
the old Windows Live Mail do it properly. One might not notice this for a
long time until one sees the message at the bottom of the web interface
telling you how much space you've used. I like Kimberly get a lot of emails
so understand the annoyance of this and as such have reported it both to
Google Accessibility via their email list and Twitter with no response. I've
also reported it to Microsoft Accessibility via twitter for the past year
now. And while they're always kind enough to respond and have forwarded it
to the appropriate team I've not seen a fix forth coming yet. Perhaps you
could report your issue to the same entities even if it isn't exactly the
same. I'm not technical enough to discern if it's exactly the same but it
could be related. I apologize if this has drifted too far afield from iPhone
usage but it can impact mail management therein indeed.

Subject: Suddenly Gmail messages are not being deleted from the server
Hi All,
I routinely access my Gmail messages on my iPhone and on my laptop using
outlook. Until recently once I had access the message on one device and
deleted it it would be permanently deleted and not appear on the other
device. However now my messages do not seem to be getting deleted from the
server. I checked my account settings by logging in through the web
interface and all looks as it should. So what am I missing?
I get a lot of email and it’s very annoying having to delete every message
twice so I hope someone can help me with this.
Thanks!
