You don’t need to cram them in, just put them into the outer part of your ear
and while you do so hold them so the pointy end where the cable is attached
points not vertically down, but a bit forward (in between horizontal and
vertical).
Then as you put them in rotate them so the cable points down, they in a way
twist into your ear.
The remote has 3 separate areas, the middle part which is resessed, the top
above the resessed area towards the ear and the bottom below.
Here are the functions:
Push at the top: increase volume (to increase it by a lot repeatedly push and
release, pushing and holding does nothing). If camera is open this takes a
picture
Push at the bottom: decrease volume (to decrease it by a lot repeatedly push
and release, pushing and holding does nothing)

Push the middle once:
Play/Pause if you have music or an audio book playing.
If your phone rings, Answer/Hanggggup. If you are on a call and somebody else
calls you switch to the second call putting the first call on hold.

Push and hold: Activates SIRI (same as pushing and holding the home button)

Push twice quickly: skips to the next song/chapter
Push twice quickly and hold on the second push: fast forward

Push three times quickly: Goes back to the beginning of a song or chapter, do
it twice and it goes back to the previous song/chapter
Push three times quickly and hold on the third push: rewinds

Maybe I forgot something here and of course these instructions should work with
any remote on any third party headset as well.

Regards,
Sieghard

Okay, I'll cram one in my ear and see how it might fit. They don't look all
that comfortable, but who knows. Thanks.

Those are the newer EarPods Apple started shipping with their iPhones in 2013.
I think I got this right, but it's possible I somehow got it wrong, and I've
been doing it the wrong way for the last few years. The larger opening on the
side of the buds should face forward. In other words, the bud on the same line
with the mike and the inline controls should go on the left. I assume there are
also some little markers, like an 'r' and and 'l' to let sighted users know
which bud goes in which ear. Once you get the hang of it, I think you'll find
that they're a bit more comfortable with a bit better sound then what you got
in the older earbuds, but of course, as with all things related to headphones,
it's all subjective!

I got a 6 s last year and they came with an odd looking pair of what looks like
hard plastic ear buds. What are they and how do they fit in the ear? They
look like they are on an angle and there is another little hole in the ear
piece. Or at least what I assume is an ear piece. They really look weird and
I have never tried to use them. They have an in line set of three switches and
what might be a mic. Thanks much for any help.

Apple replaced the earbuds with the Ear Pods back in 2013. I think all you can
get these days is the EarPods. They're similiar to the earbuds but they're more
ergonomic, so many people prefer them over the original earbuds.

If you're talking about the AirPods, these are bluetooth wireless ear buds. I
don't have a pair myself, but they're similar to the EarPods in size and shape,
but they don't have any wires. They pair easily with Apple devices and come
with a charging case. https://www.wired.com/2017/04/review-apple-airpods/

Hello,
What are the differences between the following items Apple ear buds and or ear

Thanks.
