Thank you very much for your reply. Saying, Hey Siri, has worked since we
got our SE iPhones running 9.32 last year, & they didn't need to be plugged
in. My wife, I know doesn't use the, Hey Siri, feature& I use it very
seldom. I just couldn't remember if Siri was supposed to talk or not when
using the verbal command. Thanks again.
Take care. Mike. Dodgers, try again next year!

Hey SIRI is simply a replacement for pressing and holding the home button.

I can’t remember if Hey SIRI became available when the phone is not plugged
in with iOS 10 or just now with iOS 11. I think it was iOS 10, before it
only worked when the phone was plugged into power.

It also used to respond universally to anybody saying Hey SIRI, now when you
turn on this feature you have to “train” SIRI by saying certain things.

I quite like this feature because I can have the phone sitting on my desk or
on the counter in the kitchen and without ever touching the phone I can say
“Hey SIRI, what is the time” or “Hey SIRI, set a timer for 10 minutes” just
to give two examples.

You can say “Hey SIRI” and wait for the beep and then ask your question or
say your request or you can simply say it all in one sentence, this does
work very well.

We have most of our lights at home equipped with Philipps Hue bulbs so I can
ask SIRI to turn on or off a particular light/room and now with our Schlage
Sense doorlock if I know somebody was going to stop buy I can just say “Hey
SIRI, open the front door” when whoever is coming rings the bell.

Since the noise of the motor for the lock is very noticeable most people
sort of assume that once they hear this it’s OK to come in.

Regards,

Sieghard

Subject: Hey Siri Question

Hi All,

I've never noticed, mainly because I don't say, Hey Siri, hardly ever, but
when you call on Siri with the, Hey Siri, voice command, is Siri supposed to
reply verbally along with sound, or with just the sound alert? Running the
SE with 10.33. Thanks much.

Take care. Mike. Dodgers, try again next year!
