Hi Kerry, Whoever you spoke with at the Apple Store should get some more training because they can most definitely set you up with a new Airpod charging case although if you lost it or the damage is not covered by warranty in the first year after you bought them it will cost you $69. I believe if you lost one of your Airpods it would also cost you $69 to replace it, go to this link: https://support.apple.com/airpods/repair/service
