Have you tried disabling the smart sensors? If not a solution, it might be
diagnostic.

I get this very rarely with my Edge, but it was never enough to cause me any
worry.

What does cause me a lot more concern is the fact that my Voyager Edge might be
defective. When I turn it on the phone connects fine, Voiceover comes through
the earpiece but when I try to play a book from Audible or music in the music
app, it starts playing for a fraction of a second and then it stops. When I
check the play button has gone back to pause. It’s almost as if the sensor in
the headset might not work properly and it thinks it’s not in my ear.
Interestingly enough if I forget the device and then pair it again it works,
but usually only until I turn off the headset and turn it back on, then it’s
back to doing this and each time my only work-around is to forget the Edge and
pair it again which is of corse also a pain in the ear so to speak.

I’ll have to give Plantronics support a call, I originally bought the Edge on
Amazon, but this one is already a replacement for my first one where after a
couple of months the microphones decided to stop working, the earpiece worked
just fine for playback, but it would not understand any SIRI commands and if
somebody called me they simply would not hear me, almost as if it was muted
which it was not. I called Plantronics and they replaced it without fuss, but
if this defective replacement is now also defective it will be interesting to
see what they do. I like the earpiece, but it doesn’t give me too much
confidence in the quality.

Regards,

Sieghard

I have a voyager legend. And I have an iPhone 7 Plus. Unfortunately, while I
don’t use Bluetooth every day all the time, I do use it fairly often. And I
have not experienced this problem. It sounds like something you really need to
talk with Apple about. I hope you have AppleCare.

Hello list,

So, I’m in the process of trying out a couple of new earpieces to replace my
Plantronics Voyager Edge. I’ve got them both connected to my personal iPhone SE
and business 5S. Both phones have been updated to iOS 11.x. Although, this
issue has been around with previous iOS versions. Maybe at the same rate or
perhaps I’m just noticing it more now and am less patient considering this is
occurring on both new earpieces, but on both phones, the bluetooth connection
keeps dropping with both of these earpieces.

I’m always getting a phone one/ phone two disconnected/ phone one/phone two
connected notice in my ear which is annoying to say the least. I used to get
this on my old Edge, but I thought maybe it was a function of the edge needing
to be replaced. I’m not so certain anymore. I also have a pair of Aftershokz
Trekz Titanium bone conduction headphones only connected to my personal SE that
gives me a bluetooth disconnected/bluetooth connected message as well. In fact,
I got a warranty replacement for the Trekz since the first headphones kept on
dropping the bluetooth, but these new ones are doing the same thing.

To be clear, I do recall this occurring on prior iPhones I’ve owned and since
it’s happening on all devices, I’m pretty certain it’s not an issue with one
particular phone or earpiece. In this case, a Voyager 5200 and Voyager 3200
along with the Voyager Edge and Trekz. My impression is that the 3200 is
disconnecting more frequently than the 5200, but that could just be me.

I have done the whole forget this device on both phones and re-pared, but still
the same issue. Bluetooth doesn’t seem to drop while using the earpieces (in a
phone call or streaming audio of some sort), but rather when the phones are
inactive. In my pocket, on the desk etc. Also if I wake the phone and try to
unlock will the connection drop every now and then. On my trekz, the connection
is always reestablished on its own right away, but with both these new voyager
earpieces, I find myself having to press the talk button to trigger whatever
needs to be triggered for the connection to be reestablished.

Considering that I’m experiencing this issue with multiple earpieces and on
multiple devices, I don’t know what to do since it doesn’t seem to be device
specific. Phones are up to date, firmware on the earpieces that have firmware
are updated and so on.

Is anyone else dealing with this rather annoying problem and do they have or
know of a fix for it?

Thanks,
