If I, perish the thought, has made a mistake and, therefore, wish to make a
fresh start, how do I,
reliably, find the "clear text" button? I have found it once, but cannot
find it again.

In most cases, a bullet marking a clue is a clue that specifically goes to
the ladder's theme.
Sometimes it's a bullet, sometimes it's a special character, and on the very
few occasions, I've had a few where the mark wasn't even noticed by
Voiceover.
