Hi Scott,

I was also interested in these robotic vacuums, but my Mom bought a Neato
connected vacuum last year after she had hip replacement surgery and was less
able to do stuff for a while. I know Sandy from Ireland is a huge fan, but
after seeing it work at my Mom's house I wouldn't buy one. She has a medium
sized border collie and probably after every second cleaning she has to
completely take the thing apart, clean out all the little brushes, make sure
the sensors are clean and so on. They do have a good-size house (maybe 1,300 or
1,400 square feet on the main fllor, but the kitchen and living room are very
open, then there is the entry way with stairs going into the basement and a
hallway going towards the master bedroom, it is the only other room upstairs
except for a small bathroom (just toilet and sink) for everybody to use and the
bathroom that is connected to the master bedroom. The bedroom is quite large.
The Neato can't clean the entire upstairs on one charge and I have seen it go
round and round visiting the same places all over and not going to other
places. Maybe the house is too complicated, quite a bit of furniture, rugs and
a few odd corners and angles but while it will clean OK where it goes it is
definitely not super-impressive and at least in my Mom's house it gets stuck at
least once or twice during each cleaning.
I know you asked about the Roomba, maybe your place is smaller, but with two
dogs I'd not set my expectations too high and just in case I'd ask what their
satisfaction policy is. I had a central vacuum installed a few years ago and my
wife and I decided that spending 15 or 20 minutes a couple of times a week to
vacuum is not reall that big of a deal so no robotic vacuum for us at least not
until they are even much better than they are.

Regards,
Sieghard

Subject: Is Roomba Accessible?

Good Morning,

I am interested in getting an Roomba vacuum cleaner for our house for
Christmas. Does anyone on the list have one and if so which model would be best
for a house with 2 German Sheppards. Also, is the app accessible with VoiceOver
and what about setting it up when it is first taken out of the box? Both my
wife and I are blind and we do not have any sighted help in the house so I
would have to get the unit set up on my own. Any help with this would be
greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

Scott Rumery
