I assume if he does it the same way it worked before then it should work, before you delete the existing print or prints and set them up new make sure your home button isn’t simply dirty. Just wipe the phone including the screen and home button down with a damp cloth, then dry it off with a dry dish or paper towel. I usually hold my phone screen side down so just in case the cloth is a bit too wet no moisture will get into the earpiece or in around the home button due to gravity.
