Well, I had passed the steps along to a client for whom it apparently worked. In their case, the husband in the family used Google Calendar and his wife had suffered a brain tumor that took much of her vision and messed with her memory. She got an iPad and her husband wanted her to be able to at least check her appointments that he put on the family calendar. She can do that now and even add appointments to her iPad calendar and they show up on Google. Did you select the shared Google calendar as your default calendar in the iOS settings? Perhaps Anna will chime in on this. I'm sadly at the end of my knowledge. Richard
