Hi Terri, I can answer your first question for sure:
1. Unlock your phone. 2. Go to settings then to display and brightness. 3. Double tap on raise to wake. You want this off. For your second question, if your contacts were stored on the cloud, you may want to reset and start all over again. You should have backed up your old phone to the cloud. It should then set up your contacts and such over.
