How to Remove 'Suggested Articles' from Chrome for Android/iOS Posted: 15 Jan 2018 11:03 AM PST
This guide will explain how to remove the 'Suggested Content/Articles' section from the "new tab" page in Chrome for Android or the iPhone/iPad. When you open a new tab in Chrome for Android or Chrome for iOS, by default the Google 'home page' will include a section of suggested articles from around the web. Many people find this section a distraction - so we're going to show you how to get rid of it :) 1. Open up Chrome on your Android phone/tablet or iPhone/iPad and in the address bar enter the URL: chrome://flags 2. At the top of the page of flags, locate the search box. Search for the phrase ntp 3. That will narrow down the list of flags and make it much easier to find the one named Show server-side suggestions on the New Tab page. Once you've found it, tap the button titled Default 4. >From the list of options, select Disabled 5. As soon as you make the change, a RELAUNCH NOW button will appear. Tap it. 6. When Chrome restarts, open a new tab. Ta-da! The "Suggested Articles" section will now be gone! 7. If you'd like to remove any of the other sections on the New Tab page (Recently Visited Bookmarks etc) simply re-open the chrome://flags page, search for ntp again and review each flag. Switch the flags of the items you don't want included on your New Tab page to Disabled. 8. Eventually you'll wind up with a very neat and tidy New Tab page. 9. If you ever decide you want one of those sections back, revisit the chrome://flags page and change the status of that flag back to Default (or Enabled) -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list.
