There have been observations, from time to time, on this list, as to the IQ of
Siri. I do find it
annoying when I ask him a, relatively straightforward question such as "what
is the circumference
of a circle with a diameter of 10 metres , and instead of giving me the answer,
he looked it up on
the 'net which I then had to read: a few software updates ago, Siri would
have ask me if I would
like him to read it? It wasn't Siri who decided that he would, no longer,
bother himself to read
the contents of websites; Siri is only as good as his handlers and it was they
who issued the
current instructions and he has to follow them, much as it goes against the
grain to do so!
However, I still do find him to be a lot of fun and I am amazed at the things
that he can answer,
such as when I said to him: "Siri! May I call you Jack?" to which he replied:
"No Jewel! you may
not; I am comfortable with my identity!"
Obviously, he has been programmed to make that reply should any jumped-up
jockey suggest that he
should be called anything but Siri.
Speaking of which, I assume that it is an acronym! does anyone know what the
individual letters
represent? I think that I have heard what the words are but I have forgotten!
