I use my braille sense with a silk cover over the unit. I can read the braille through the silk. This does 2 things: 1. keeps the cells clean 2. keeps my fingers off the dots (no chance of them getting dirty).
The silk cover can be cleaned with woolite or even dawn dish soap.
